Liberty’s new Home Special Edition is the largest Liberty home safe, providing 20 cubic feet of storage. Home safes are locking boxes which can be used to protect valuables and important documents from theft, fire, and damage.

How Secure is the Home Special Edition Safe?

The SE Liberty home safe is built with 11 gauge steel and six solid state ¼ inch thick locking bars. Constructed with Liberty’s rolled-form construction and robotically welded, these safes offer a high-level of pry-resistance.

Is the SE a Fireproof Home Safe?

At least once a week a customer asks for our best ‘fireproof safe.’ While we love to serve our customers, there’s no such thing as a fireproof safe. Some retailers will add a ‘fireproof gun safes’ category on their website because that’s what people are searching for. Worse, some will claim to sell fireproof safes.

But, NO safe can withstand a burn indefinitely.

That being said, the SE home safe has a 90 minute Cool Box fire rating from Liberty. According to the fire marshals we have spoken to, 90 minutes will give you a fighting chance of preserving your valuables and cash in the event of a home fire.

What Can You Store in a SE Home Safe?

Anything that fits! (It is a free country after all.) That being said, the SE home safe is designed with an executive interior that includes:

  • 2 Slots for Long Guns
  • Adjustable Shelving
  • Door Panel (featuring 2 pistol holsters, four zipper pockets, 2 mesh pockets, and 1 cool pocket

Is the SE Home Safe a Gun Safe?

Yes. The construction of a home safe is no different than the construction of a gun safe. The only difference is how the interior is configured. Any safe can be used as a ‘home safe’ or a ;gun safe.’ Technically speaking, once you store a firearm in your safe, it’s a gun safe.

Gun Safes Are Tax-Free in Washington

It’s important to note that there’s no sales tax on gun safes in Washington — which means if you’re storing a firearm in your safe, you can save 10% on your purchase!

Where Can You Install the SE Home Safe?

Where should you install your safe is a common question we get. These are some of the most popular locations:

  • Garage
  • Closet
  • Bedroom
  • Mud Room
  • Under a Stairwell

Is the SE Home Safe a Closet Safe?

The SE Home Safe is an excellent closet safe. The biggest concern for most individuals shopping for a closet space is depth. Standard closet depth is 24 inches, however some closets are just 22 inches in depth.

In order for the safe to be properly installed you want to leave room for an electrical outlet to be added in the back, along with enough from for the door at the front of your closet. The SE Home Safe’s 20-inch depth makes it ideal for fitting within most closets.

Do I have to Bolt Down the SE Home Safe?

It’s strongly recommended you bolt down the SE Home Safe. Bolting down your safe gives you an added layer of security against theft, making it next to impossible to move the safe without opening it first.
