We understand that buying a safe can be a daunting task and overwhelming. For over 40 years, NW Safe has carried just about every brand out there. And luckily for you, we have learned what safe companies build the best safes for the best value.

To start, we recommend investing in a U.S built safe if at all possible. Although we do carry a handful of imported safes in select sizes and models, we specialize in quality, American made safes.

American Security Safes & Vault Doors

American Security (also known as AMSEC) is another U.S. based safe manufacturer that has been building quality safes since 1960. AMSEC has one of the most versatile product offerings in the safe industry. From commercial safes to residential safes and vault doors, AMSEC builds our best selling high-end gun safe, the BFX series. Multiple layers of steel, solid plate door and their famous poured, concrete based fire insulation that has been proven to protect against both serious fires and slow down burglary attempts.

They also build the highest quality, U.S built TL rated safes in the industry, including one of the only TL rated gun safes available, the RF series.

ISM — Israeli Safe Manufacturing

Manufactured in Israel since 1914, ISM offers the highest security tool and torch rated safes in the world. These safes are designed and built to protect millions of dollars from burglary and fire. However, we actually sell more ISM torch rated safes to residential customers than any other segment.

Available in many sizes and ratings, NW Safe is one of the largest stocking dealers of ISM’s in the United States.

Liberty Safe Company

Liberty Safe Company is one of the oldest and most reputable safe companies in the industry. Almost the entire line is American Made with quality steel, components and manufacturing techniques.

Liberty offers everything from entry level gun cabinets to higher security gun safes and vault doors. If you’re looking for a safe in the middle to entry level range, Liberty offers some of the only American made safes in those price points.

The Liberty Centurion is our best selling model at right around $1,000. The Liberty Premium Home safe is our best selling safe in its class.

Champion Safe Company

Champion Safe Company is one of our best selling gun safe brands. For the money, we believe Champion offers the best entry level, middle of the road and high end gun safe in the industry. Each safe is built with U.S steel. Plus, they features quality locks, unique features and finishes.

The Challenger, Trophy and Master Series from Champion are our best selling safes from one of our favorite manufacturers. When you invest in a Champion safe you’re paying more for the actual safe and less for a well advertised name.

Rhino Safe Company

Based out of Idaho and Veteran owned, Rhino was made famous with their industry first “Ironworks” industrial finish that turns a modern safe into a piece of furniture.

Although Rhino builds some imported safes under brand names like Bighorn and Kodiak, we carry their U.S built product line up. The AIX, RSX and Thunderbolt series are our best selling Rhino products in addition to their vault door offerings.

If long gun storage is your goal, then Browning’s Axis interior and DPX door panel offers a practical storage solution for the firearm enthusiast. The 1878 series is a stocking product at Northwest Safe as well as the Rawhide lineup.

American Security Depository Safes — Widely used in restaurants and coffee shops, quick serve and other cash handling businesses. U.L listed lock.
Browning Rawhide Series — Solid value with desirable features at an attractive price. U.L Listed Lock.

Brands We Don’t Carry

As you’ll notice, all of the safes listed here are imported — the vast majority from China. One thing to be particularly cautious of is any safe with a non-U.L. listed lock, as this presents a significant security threat. Furthermore, many of the safes are sold at big box stores which don’t offer the same level of service and industry expertise you’ll find at a locally-owned shop.
