What kind of locking system do BF Series gun safes use?
A gun safe locking system, formally known as a locking mechanism, is the lock which keeps the door from opening. In the case of a BF Series gun safe, this is the lock which keeps the 12 massive 1½” Chrome Plated Bolts extended, holding the door closed.
All of the BF Series NW Safe Edition gun safes can be outfitted with a dial lock (aka a combination lock), electronic lock, or a biometric lock.
Is a BF Series safe considered a quick access safe?
While a digital keypad can reduce the amount of time it takes to access your BF Series safe, it is still not considered a quick access safe. Even for those with a lot of experience and practice opening the heavy duty door, it typically takes longer to open a BF Series safe than a safe designed to be opened quickly.

Is a BF Series Gun Safe a Good Rifle Safe?

Underwriters Laboratories developed the Test Performance Ratings for gun safes — the most highly respected testing method for determining how burglar-proof a safe is. All AMSEC gun safes and locks are tested by Underwriters Laboratories.

2 Hour Fireproof Gun safe
The gun safe industry is not regulated. Safe manufacturers can assign any fire rating to their product without being held accountable. While some manufacturers have developed internal testing procedures, AMSEC uses the stringent third-party testing provided by Underwriters Laboratories.
All of Underwriters Laboratories’ fire rating tests require that the product is brought to 1200° F within eight minutes and kept at that temperature for the duration of the test.
BF Series gun safes are outfitted with Seamless DryLight Fill — a concrete composite that is extremely heat resistant. Additionally, dual door seals help keep fire and smoke from breaching the safe through the minimal seams around the edge of the doors.
