Most Affordable, Large Gun Safe Made in America

12 Gauge Steel and 60 Minute Fire Protection

Are you in the market for a large gun safe made in America that won’t break the bank? The Liberty USA 50 is a great large starter safe, thanks to its entry-level price point and 60 minutes of fire protection at 1200°.

Since 1988, our family-owned and operated business has been proud to offer the largest selection of gun safes and the best service in the Pacific Northwest. While we’re undeniably in the business of selling safes, we know how important it is to protect your firearms and valuables.

In this post, we’ll offer an honest review of the Liberty USA 50 to help you decide if this is the right safe for you. We’ll cover the following key features and considerations:

  • Key Features of a Liberty USA 50

  • Cost of a Liberty USA 50

  • Installing a Liberty Safe USA 50 - Where & How

Key Features of a Liberty USA 50

Storage Capacity

Made in the USA

Exterior Dimensions (H x W x D):

72.5" x 42" x 27.5"

Interior Dimensions (H x W x D):

69" x 38" x 20"

The maximum long gun storage capacity of a USA 50 is 50 long guns. This capacity assumes that all shotguns and rifles being stored are barebones, without any scopes, accessories or aftermarket parts. It also requires both sides of the safe to be configured for long gun storage.

A better representation of the USA 50’s long gun storage capacity is closer to 25-30, assuming that both sides of the safe are dedicated to long-gun storage. Those with shelving on one side are more likely to store 15-20 long guns.

The discrepancy between potential storage capacity and realistic storage capacity is not exclusive to Liberty Safe’s USA 50. Nor is it exclusive to Liberty Safe. This is an industry-wide trend.

Why say the USA 50 can hold 50 long guns? Because it has 50 gun cutouts, and when you’re marketing a product, you put your best foot forward first. Then if your sales team is transparent (hello, we’re transparent), you explain the limitations and benefits. The primary benefit of more cutouts is more flexibility and storage options as you’re arranging your guns.

Steel Construction

The Liberty USA 50 features 12 gauge steel. It’s constructed using a roll-form technology, allowing Liberty to form the top, bottom, and sides of their safe with just one piece of steel. The automated, single-piece construction allows the safe to have fewer welds, reducing the potential of weak points.

Solid State™ Locking Bars

Liberty’s Solid State™ Locking Bars are a unique, single-piece steel construction on each side of the door. The ‘bars’ extend from the door into the frame of the safe. This solid surface design provides increased surface area, delivering exceptional pry resistance compared to other safes in a similar price range.

Fire Protection

With a 60-minute fire rating at 1200°F, a Liberty USA 50 provides minimal fire protection. We recommend this safe for those who are storing $10K - $20K (or less) or less and nothing of sentimental or irreplaceable value.

While this is an excellent safe if you are looking for large storage capacity at a budget-friendly price point, if you plan to store items in the $15K - $30K range, we’d recommend considering a safe from Liberty’s Lincoln 50 or Liberty’s Franklin Series.

Locking Mechanism

This Liberty gun safe comes with your choice of mechanical lock or a Securam TopLit electronic lock. Both locks are UL-listed and feature the U.L. Magic Mount Template.

We do not recommend a non-U.L. listed lock. And we would caution anyone who is considering a gun safe with a non-U.L. listed lock to look elsewhere. The repair costs of a non-U.L.-listed lock are significantly higher than those of a U.L.-listed lock. The Magic Mount template also enables easy, affordable, and secure interchangeability, allowing you to switch between a mechanical and an electronic lock whenever desired.

Adjustable Interior

The 3-in-1 Flex™ adjustable interior allows you to adjust shelving height and remove shelves as desired. This customization is particularly beneficial for those who want to store a mix of firearms, documents, and other valuables. It is also ideal for those who need to manage a changing collection of firearms and valuables.

Door Panel Storage

The factory-installed economy door storage panel is an extra perk of the Centurion 24. This panel features:

  • 9 Pistol Sleeves

  • 2 Mesh Pockets

  • 2 Zippered Pockets

  • 2 File Pocketed

Cost of a Liberty USA 50

USA 50 in a Garage

When it comes to made-in-America, large gun safes for sale, the Liberty USA can’t be beat. Full retail, it’s $2,699. That price is hands down the most affordable entry-level large gun safe.

And we’re not just blowing smoke. Liberty Safe sells thousands of safes a year. There is no other safe of its size that can compete on price that’s manufactured in the United States.

Currently $800 Off

We’d be doing you a disservice not to mention that during our 2024 Black November sale, this big beauty is selling for just $1,899!

Installing a Liberty Safe USA 50 - How & Where

The Liberty USA 50 is 900 pounds. That’s no chump weight you and your buddies can safely maneuver into place — no matter how many six-packs you offer as compensation. For reference, the average elite bodybuilder squats 450 pounds — in a controlled setting.

Nearly all retailers will offer curbside delivery at a bare minimum. Some retailers may provide first-floor delivery as long as no stairs are involved. Why the limitations? As we stated above, this is a BIG safe.

Moving a safe of this size and weight into a home without causing damage or risking injury requires specialized equipment and expertise. Our in-house professional delivery crews are experienced and outfitted with the industry’s best tools to move your safe into place without damaging your home. These tools include:

  • Door jamb protectors

  • Floor Protection (Our specially designed Slick Sticks are used to slide safes over your floor’s surface, offering weight distribution and protection against scratches.)

  • Ultralift Motorized Hand Trucks

Where your safe is installed is a personal choice. We have installed hundreds of safes this size in second-story master bedrooms and closets. We also frequently install gun safes in garages, dens, and man caves. Generally, a safe this size would be too tall to fit under a stairway and too wide to fit in a standard closet. But assuming you have the clearance for it, your crew will make it work!

Liberty Safe USA 50 FAQs

What if the Battery Dies in My USA 50?

If we had a nickel for every customer who called because the battery on their electronic lock died, we’d have a lot of nickels. It’s a call we get at least once a day. And 99% of the time, all a customer needs to do is replace the battery with a new Duracell battery that’s 4-5 years from its expiration date.

Will My Liberty Safe Require Maintenance?

Yes. Gun safes require maintenance in order for them to keep functioning properly. Certain maintenance tasks, like monitoring a drifting combination on a dial lock or replacing the battery on an electronic lock, can be easily done on your own. However, more complex tasks—such as adjusting the slip clutch mechanism—are best handled by a professional master safe technician.

Does the USA 50 Have a Warranty?

Liberty’s USA 50 has a 5-year warranty on the lock and a lifetime, transferable warranty on the body. The lifetime warranty covers the following:

  • Repairs for your damaged safe

  • Replacing your safe if it's too damaged to be repaired

  • Shipping costs to send you a new safe

  • Installation costs

  • If your safe was damaged enough to be put into lockout mode, Liberty will pay a professional to come open it up for you

  • Removal of your old safe (yep, if your safe is damaged beyond repair, they will also pay for it to be removed)

Does Liberty Safe Take Trade-Ins?

Liberty Safe does not offer trade-ins or buy-backs. But as a local retailer serving Western Washington, Eastern Washington, Idaho, and Montana, we’re proud to offer a robust buy-back and trade-in program.

While we don’t get customer complaints often, the most common regret we hear is, ‘I bought too small of a safe.’ Trading in your current safe can help offset the cost of a new, bigger safe (like this USA 50).

Purchase a Liberty USA 50

While there are seemingly endless options when it comes to gun safes, this is the most affordable, large gun safe made in America. If you’re looking for a big safe in a reasonable price point, the USA 50 is a sure winner.
